Exploring the Red Centre
In the centre of the Australian outback lies the town of Alice Springs. Surrounded by a variety of habitats and iconic destinations such as Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Olgas, it is a great area for a few days’ birding.
Using Alice Springs as a base, the Red Centre Adventure will take you through a variety of habitats in search of many exciting bird species. We take daily trips out to different areas targeting enigmatic birds such as Dusky Grasswren, Rufous-crowned Emu-wren, Spinifexbird, Grey Honeyeater, Chiming Wedgebill, Western Bowerbird, Spinifex Pigeon Painted Finch and maybe even Grey Falcon…!
It’s a small group tour of like-minded people (max. 8 participants); all-inclusive, fully guided, departing from and returning to Alice Springs. There’s no ‘roughing it’ on this tour and we’ll be staying in comfortable en-suite accommodation. Late July is the perfect time to explore the outback as the weather is generally mild. Expect to see around 150 species, including many of the local specialties, some great scenery and a comfortable trip mostly on sealed roads.
