Bellbird’s founder & lead guide Peter Waanders will be leading a private (non-profit, non-Bellbird) expedition targeting Princess Parrots commencing 10 May and 23 September 2019 (subject to various conditions being met, most importantly the birds being present – please read on). Seats are very limited and restricted to people without mobility restrictions and without significant health issues.
Upon booking you’ll pay a non-refundable deposit of around $500. You’ll pay a refundable balance before the start of the tour. We’ll send out a scouting mission just prior to the trip to establish the birds exact where-abouts. Your deposit pays for the cost of the scouting mission. If the birds are present the tour proceeds. If they aren’t present you will receive your balance payment back and you can stay home 🙂
Assuming the trip goes ahead we’ll depart from Alice Springs. We’ll be camping and self-catering. This is not a commercial tour so while we’ll provide everything you need, you’ll have to set up & break down your tents or swags, help cook the common meals and do other chores. We’ll provide everything, tents, mattresses, cooking gear, food, vehicles, drivers etc.
This will be a 6-day trip and cost price will be somewhere between AU$4000-6000 per person depending on how many participants.
As this is a non-profit, private trip any profits will be donated to the Oreoica Fund, Bellbird’s environmental fund from where donations to worthwile bird research and conservation projects are made.
